Description
A golden opportunity doesn’t present itself every day but today is your day. This new development is coming to the Greater Toronto Area’s east end and will not disappoint.
1966 Eglinton Avenue East Condos is a new high-rise condominium development by RioCan Living in Scarborough. This pre-construction project is located at 1966 Eglinton Ave E, near the Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection in the Golden Mile neighbourhood. At this project, expect four buildings ranging from 12 to 48 storeys with a major grocery store at grade level.
RioCan has the vision to take an underutilized site and reinvent it into a thriving mixed-use community with residential and employment uses.
1966 Eglinton Avenue East Condos is on-brand for the newly passed Golden Mile Secondary Plan. This plan from the City of Toronto supports existing, and future employment and will accelerate the development of residential buildings in the area. Currently, the Golden Mile is known for its big brand stores and shopping centres.
Once this mixed-use development designed by Giannone Petricone Associates is complete, it will involve the replacement of a plaza at Warden and Eglinton. The project will replace a plaza and will feature 12-storey, 38-storey, 40-storey and 48-storey buildings plus retail space, a public park and new pedestrian-friendly streets. Most of the density will be concentrated along the site’s perimeter towards the Eglinton frontage, and two Crosstown LRT stops.
The entire site spans 26.4 acres, and as per the plan, 1966 Eglinton Avenue East Condos will be rolled out across four phases. Between the four newly proposed buildings, there will be four levels of underground parking with 1,912 parking spaces, while the project will deliver 2,434 units in total. The units are to be situated in the following order:
- 1,404 one-bedroom units
- 786 two-bedroom units
- 244 three-bedroom units
Although specific details such as communal spaces have yet to be formalized by the developer, what is certain is that there will be outdoor and indoor amenities that will be easily accessible to all residents.
Location & Neighbourhood
The main advantage of investing in 1966 Eglinton Avenue Condos is its proximity to transit. This development will sit directly adjacent to the future Golden Mile Station that is part of the highly-anticipated Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown LRT. Being so close to public transit will significantly improve opportunities to live and work in the same neighbourhood, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The Eglinton Crosstown LRT will efficiently and quickly connect to all TTC subway lines, including Line 1 Yonge-University, Line 2 Bloor Danforth and Line 3 Scarborough RT. The transit coming to this area will transform this neighbourhood from a primarily industrial area to a vibrant, mixed-use community.
Additionally, Kennedy Station is just 8 minutes away from 1966 Eglinton Avenue Condos. Kennedy Station connects commuters to Line 2, Line 3 and various GO Transit Services.
This area currently sits at a Transit Score of 65 out of 100. By the time the Eglinton LRT is available, we can only expect this score to increase significantly.
