Description
An ambitious new real estate development looks to put midtown Toronto on the map as the city’s newest, most opulent residence, setting the standard for urban living as a coveted, landmark property.
St. Clair Place Condos is a new multi-tower condominium residence by Wittington Properties Limited and Capital Developments in Toronto. This pre-construction condo project is located at 1485 Yonge St at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue East in the neighbourhood of Deer Park.
Spread out over a massive 1.37 acres, this development will occupy three-fifths of the northeast corner of Yonge and St. Clair. It will be bound by Heath Street to the north and Alvin Avenue to the east while its southern end abuts The St. Clair Centre and The Weston Centre.
This aspiring condo development will be comprised of three separate towers measuring 34, 39, and 59 storeys high. With its tallest tower to reach a height of 196.9 metres, this new condominium complex is set to become the tallest building in the city located north of the downtown core, offering its residents unmatched, breathtaking views of the skyline.
These lofty heights will bring an enormous increase in density to the area, consisting of a total 1,357 residential units spread out over a whopping ground floor area of 111,560 square metres. Not only that, the new mixed-use development will create 27,712 square metres of new retail space that will front along all three of its surrounding streets, thereby attracting business growth and rejuvenating this long-neglected corner of the city.
With heights that will rival the skyscrapers at Yonge and Eglinton to its north, the intensive development at this site completely fits in with this area’s great transportation options and existing neighbourhood amenities. Located directly on a subway station as well as a streetcar line, this transit-oriented residence will allow residents to easily access public transportation for their daily commutes. Not only that, the convenience of nearby shops and services make for an eminently walkable neighbourhood.
Surrounded by affluent and desirable communities such as Forest Hill, Rosedale, and Moore Park, Yonge and St. Clair is finally distinguished with its own marquee residence. So for the best in contemporary city lifestyles, take advantage of this great opportunity.

Across its three separate towers, this planned development will consist of
- 782 one-bedroom condo units
- 415 two-bedroom units
- 160 three-bedroom units
each measuring an average size of 62, 84, and 160 square metres, respectively. As well, this Diamond Schmitt Architects-designed project will contain 30 rental units that will replace existing units.
Situated equidistantly on the 13,683 square metre site, the towers will employ well-considered spacing and positioning in order to deliver unobstructed views of the ravine to the north and west, Deer Park and Forest Hill to the east, and the city centre to the south. As well, with the highest towers placed to the southern and western end that taper downwards to the Yorkminster Park Baptist Church to the north, this project establishes an appropriate balance of density, skyview, light access, and shadow impact.
A central courtyard equipped with a winter garden will be positioned in the middle of the towers, allowing access to its secluded retail space via regularly-spaced entrances from Yonge and Alvin. This interior public space will be preceded by an entry park at its northwest corner and be aligned towards the south-facing window of the opposite-facing church, thereby freeing up the space.
The development will be prominently devoted to retail space on its P1, ground, mezzanine, and 2nd floor, while the 3rd floor will offer a balance between retail and office space. The shared podium between northwestern and southwestern tower will reach a height of 5 storeys, and, along with floor 4, will host indoor and outdoor amenities. The podium for the eastern tower will reach a height of 8 storeys.
The entire complex will be served by a four-level underground garage that is planned to contain some 677 parking spaces, of which 462 will be reserved for residents and 136 will be equipped with electric vehicle chargers. At the same time, the P1 and P1 mezzanine levels will contain space for 1,522 long-term parking spaces and 250 for short-term in addition to a vehicle pick-up drop-off point.
As well, this development will feature such environmentally-friendly features as a 3,278-square-foot green roof and an anti-bird facade.
Location & Neighbourhood
As an intersection that was home to the city’s top theatres and luxury retailers like Ira Berg and Celine, Yonge and St. Clair has lost some of its lustre since peaking in the 70’s and 80’s. Even as this development seeks to reintroduce new businesses to the area, this neighbourhood has nonetheless developed itself into a vibrant commercial zone that is well-connected with the rest of the city.
As the major traffic and retail centre of the exclusive Deer Park neighbourhood, Yonge and St. Clair is home to a number of retail shops and services that include a Loblaws grocery store, pharmacy, Home Hardware, and a local branch of the Toronto Public Library. In addition to a number of upscale restaurants, the intersection is also home to fitness facilities such as GoodLife Fitness Centre, Moksha Yoga studio, and The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto. The sheer number of local conveniences is reflected in this area’s sublime Walk Score of 91, signifying that daily errands do not require a car.
